Coming attraction:

Vero Beach Wine + Film Fest

Vero Beach Wine + Film

Although peak tourist season is behind us and the lazier days of summer are setting in, a new philanthropic event pairing cinema and vino is set to deliver a fresh cultural convergence this coming weekend. The inaugural Vero Beach Wine + Film Festival will take place June 9-12.

The brainchild of founder Jerusha Stewart, the festival will benefit Suncoast Mental Health Centers, of which she is a board member.

Thursday afternoon through Sunday evening, locals and tourists can choose from over 40 independent short, feature and documentary films at multiple venues, as well as parties and forums.

Festival passes start at $95 and increase based on which events festival goers wish to attend.

Some of the wine and social events include “Vino Veritas Vinter” dinners at Citrus Grillhouse and Costa d’Este Beach Resort & Spa; a “Cinema Uncorked!” opening night bash at Riverside Theatre; “Judgment of Paris” a commemorative tasting; “Costa d’Cinema” a grand wine tasting at Costa d’Este Beach Resort & Spa; “Burgundy + Brews,” an open-air film and party at Orchid Island Brewery; and “Bubbly Brunch” at Osceola Bistro.

Films will be screened at the Heritage Center, Riverside Theatre and Vero Beach Museum of Art, with the Sundance Film Festival 2016 grand jury prizewinner "Between Sea and Land," directed by Carlos del Castillo (see photo below).
