Sailors Return view at sunset

SAILOR’S RETURN, 625 SW Anchorage Lane, Stuart, 872.7250, www.thesailorsreturn.com

To say the waterfront view from Sailor’s Return is magical, that it feels like stepping into a living painting of what a waterfront view should be, might come close to what it’s like to sit at a table inside or out and gaze out over rippling water of the wide St. Lucie River. Docks full of sleek boats might start a little boat envy sneaking in alongside the serenity that comes from watching the boats rock softly. The sunsets are spectacular, going down over the water in full view of the restaurant’s diners. Owners Tracy and Bob Davis were well-known when they started Sailor’s Return because they owned the Jolly Sailor in downtown Stuart for many years. After they closed it and hung out for a while doing other things, they decided to return to the restaurant business, much to the pleasure of their former patrons. Sailor’s Return seemed like a perfect fit for the name. The big windows for inside diners and the umbrella-covered tables for outside diners, along with a nautical theme and a very large menu featuring a wide variety of food, including a sprinkling of popular dishes from the Jolly Sailor, makes for very happy diners. With 770 reviews on TripAdvisor, it garnered four stars and raves for the sunsets, the view, the food, the service.
